Taking Time Out At The Lime Wood

Sometimes we all need a little bit of ‘me-time’. Living in a bustling city it can be easy to get caught up in the constant energy and feel like you have to be doing something 24/7, which is great, but also means you can just as easily forget to take time out to yourself.

If you watched my recent video, ‘Taking Time Out‘, you will already know exactly why I decided to escape the city for a few days and hop on a train to the New Forest. I’d heard about the Lime Wood Hotel through friends and it sounded idillic – acres of land to wander, a luxurious spa, state if the art gym, and fresh healthy food. Exactly what I needed!

As soon as I drove up the private lane towards the Lime Wood, I knew I’d made the best choice. The staff made me feel immediately welcome, showing me to my room to drop my bags and giving me a tour of the hotel. I spent the next two days quietly exploring the grounds and making the most of the facilities.

Within the first couple of hours of arriving  I was already in the spa. I started off in the gym, using the TRX equipment in the bright and spacious room, followed by the rest of the day dipping between the hydro pools, outdoor jacuzzi and sauna. Yes, it was total bliss! I stayed there until the very last minute before it closed, and in my totally zenned-out state, floated back to my room where I ordered room service, watched tv in bed and finally got an early night. When would this ever happen in London?!

The next day I had a session booked with Dan Bartlett, one of the skilled personal trainers at the Lime Wood. Rather than training in the gym we headed straight outside and ran through the forest, stopping a few times along the way to do strength training with either a TRX from a tree or body weight exercises.  It was one of the best training experiences I’ve had, working out surrounded by nature and wildlife. Having been so inspired by running through the forests, I decided to spend the rest of the day exploring them at a slower pace, walking through the bluebells, and filming my video.

And to top it all off, the food was exquisite. I was beyond excited when I realised the cafe at the spa, Raw and Cured, served raw, vegan food. My favourite dish was the Spicy Mexican Fiesta, a taco filled with beans, guacamole and salsa. I had it far too many times during my stay!
