Staying Present This Autumn
Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn.
It kind of pains me to say that! I’m such a Summer person, and although I can hardly complain after having the most beautiful and long Summer, I still feel sad to see the days getting shorter and darker now that we are in October.
Recently I have been thinking a lot about Christmas – I know, I know, it’s a long way off yet! But that time of the year always requires a lot of planning ahead (at least in my family it does!) and so I am actually beginning to feel quite excited.
It’s around about now that there is so much to look forward to – Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas, New Years – and I love this build up. It’s like a physical feeling of the excitement building up inside, bubbling away and strengthening as we get closer to these key events!
As you may have noticed, the last couple of months have been pretty crazy for me and I have had my foot flat down on the accelerator. I have released my Autumn/Winter fashion edit with Oasis, I have been working closely with some of my favourite brands such as bareMinerals, and I have launched my own beauty and lifestyle range in Boots. These are all amazing things to happen, and ones that have been goals of mine since the start of my career, so it has been totally surreal to see it all come to life.
I do feel like Summer kind of passed me by because I was running around like a headless chicken, so this Autumn and Winter I am looking forward to slowing down slightly to enjoy these exciting projects I have been working on, and truly make the most of the next few weeks by staying present.
This morning I took a walk around my local park – no phone, no music, no podcasts. Just me outside in nature. And it was total bliss. I grew up in the countryside, so since living in London it’s really important for me to get outside to just listen to the birds chirping, the wind rustling the leaves in the trees and watch playful puppies leaping around. Although it may be getting a little bit chillier, I’m thankful the sun is still shining.
What about you, are you a Summer or a Winter person?
